The Taiyo is a jumbo competition-style kendama produced by Yamagata Koubou for the kendama performance and juggling performance market. The shape mimics a standard JKA competition kendama scaled up to 9-1/2 inches in height.

For street and stage performance use, jumbo kendamas are more visually dramatic. In addition, many tricks are easier to hit with a larger sized kendama (although the audience doesn't need to know that!).

The Taiyo is a Japan Kendama Association recommended product and comes with JKA recommended product seal on the base of the ken. JKA recommended products are not permitted for use in competition, but have been evaluated and approved for recreational use by the JKA's quality assurance staff.

The Taiyo is made from maple wood. It comes in one color only, Hemoglobin Red, a deeper, darker red than the normal red of kendamas. "Taiyo" means "sun" in Japanese.
